Telstra Outage Australia

Telstra Internet Outage Information & Troubleshooting

In today’s day and age, we use the internet on a daily basis. Whether it’s to stay connected and communicate with others, or to manage your business remotely, it’s one of those technologies that we need, technologies we can’t go too long without. And if you rely on it heavily, something like a Telstra internet outage can be catastrophic.

Who is Telstra?

Telstra is currently Australia’s largest telco, and has a coverage of 99.4% of the entire population. It is undoubtedly a leader when it comes to the services they offer, and they are very quick to adopt new technologies, too - they already cover 75% of the population with 5G. Other companies such as Optus and TPG trail behind when it comes to overall coverage.

That being said, experiencing a Telstra internet outage isn’t completely out of the question. Like with every operator, it can happen, and when it does, there are a few things you can do about it.

How Do I Check Telstra Outages?

If you can’t access the internet, and all the other devices in your home, such as kitchen appliances and TV, seem to be working properly, you will want to check for a Telstra internet outage. The Telstra Outages page is an online tool that will allow a customer to check whether a service is down in your area, at any given time.

Alternatively, you can open the My Telstra app on your smartphone or tablet, and then tap on Get Help. From the menu, select the service you’re having an issue with (in this case, your internet), and follow the steps in the app.

Last but not least, you could also check their Twitter profile. If there is an outage, they will probably tweet about it and let users know.

Recent Telstra Outages and Problems

As we mentioned, no provider is an exception when it comes to problems every once in a while, and neither is Telstra. When it comes to their outages, they are usually limited to a certain area, and more often than not, they are fixed rather quickly.

Some of Telstra’s more problematic outages go back to 2016, when the provider had no less than four outages in as many months, or the more recent situation, when mice damaged their fibre optic cables, which led to many users losing their connectivity.

And arguably the worst one of them all was the infrastructure failure which saw two of their exchanges both go down. To make matters worse, the exchanges were made as a redundancy to each other, but when both went down, the users’ experience suffered.

How to Know If Telstra Has an Outage?

The first thing you’ll notice in case of a Telstra internet outage is that you’re unable to access the internet. If that happens, you can check Telstra’s website and use their Outages tool, which allows you to check whether or not there is an outage in your area. If there is one, you’ll be able to see it.

FAQ

When Will Telstra Outage Be Fixed?

Generally, fixing a Telstra internet outage requires a tech team to first identify the issue and the cause, and then find a solution. Depending on the severity of the problem, it could take a couple of days for the problem to be resolved completely.

Why is Telstra Internet not Working?

If you have Telstra as your ISP, and the internet is not working, there could be an outage somewhere in your area. You can use Telstra’s outages tool to check if that is the case.

Is There a Telstra Outage Right Now?

Telstra is rather quick to update their status, so if there is a Telstra outage at the moment, you will find accurate information on the provider’s Outages page, or on their Twitter profile.

Mobile reception is constantly dropping out we utilise Telstra as our mobile provider as thought they had the best coverage in the area. We are located in Maudsland Mt Nathan on the Gold Coast and although we have trees, I feel if the wind blows left or right the reception completely cuts out and the bars on the mobile disappear! Is there any mobile solutions available to boost my mobile reception I heard of a company Celfi but don't want to spend that amount of coin in order to see if it helps. Should I have to purchase and pay Telstra installation when we are just 10 minutes out of the Gold Coast when especially Telstra offer 99 percent coverage Australia wide???? Come on Telstra get it together.
